The Learning Center has moved into its third year of service and is pleased to announce that our summer program will run from May 28th-August 9th, 2019. We are actively seeking energetic driven teachers/assistant teachers for these full-time/temporary positions. The Summer Program Teachers/Assistant Teachers work under the supervision of the Master Teachers and at the direction of the Summer Program Coordinator providing academic and enrichment to children ages 6 to 12 years of age. The selected candidates must be available Monday-Friday starting May 20, 2019 during the hours of 7 a.m.-6 p.m. daily for the duration of summer program.
Qualifications:
• Completed the 10th grade and is currently enrolled in a secondary program
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test and adjudicated background check as required by Federal law after conditional offer of employment is made
• Current Driver’s License
• Able to maintain strictest confidentiality and exhibit sensitivity to cultural and personnel issues.
Able to communicate with people from diverse functional areas, and convey complex data in tangible terms
• Must have positive verifiable references, work references preferred.

Responsibilities:
• Directs the daily activities of children as assigned by the Teacher and the Summer Program Coordinator
• Performs clerical and cleaning duties as needed and/or instructed
• Directs children in educational activities; supervise children during lunch, naptime, free time, field trips, and transition between activities and playground periods
• Prepare materials for and participates in scheduled activities and field trips under the direction of Master Teacher, and Summer Program Coordinator
• Communicates and works harmoniously with diverse families and coworkers
• Represent the Tribe in a professional manner at all times, when working with Tribal members, in dealings with outside entities and situations with fellow employees

This position will be posted internally and externally simultaneously for 10 days.
Native American preference policy is as follows: Legally enrolled Eastern Shawnee Tribal members shall be given preference if the tribal member’s experience, qualifications, training, and all other criteria included in the job posting are equal. Tribal Members or Citizens of other Federally Recognized Tribes shall have second preference following the same criteria, followed by any other applicants. (Resolution # 021011-R-03) Only Certified Degree of Indian Blood cards will be accepted as verification of Native American Heritage for other tribes.
